Best thing to do is contact your local Ford dealer with you VIN # and have them check. It might be covered under warranty. It's about an $800 repair if you have to pay dealership to do the work. The DEF heater can be purchased for $150 online aftermarket or $250 from a dealer. If you are mechanically inclined it doesn't look like a difficult repair.

My 15 thru the code yesterday and I was actually going right by our Ford Dealer\Service center. I took it in. They said, it would be a 125 diag fee but if under a warranty it would be a no charge. 20 minutes later they came back and said I was covered under the 5\50k Emissions warranty. So going in this morning at 730 am to have them do it. I did talk with the tech for a moment and said that they have seen dozens over the past week due to the cold weather we are having in Central Texas. He indicated that once it gets back into the 60's for highs then it settles down. So at 39k, they are putting in a complete new tank and assembly. Let's see how long this lasts?

I had a customer who had this two weeks ago on his '15. I swapped the assembly with a Motorcraft part and called it good, don't know if I trust aftermarket options just yet. He was just outside the warranty period on the TSB at 129K otherwise I would've sent him to the dealer.

He's back on the road and somewhat happy, while in my posses ion, I found that he had the dreaded upper oil pan leak.

I called my local Ford dealer and gave them my VIN, they said my truck isn't covered. It's a 2015 with 81k miles. And according to the Customer satisfaction program ( 18M01 ) it extends the warranty from to 11 years and 120,000 miles. So I am baffled as to why my truck isn't covered.

I'd call the dealer back and mention that program number and 11yr-120,000 to them. They may either not know about it, or be jerks and hoping you don't know and will just go away.

If they continue to give you run around, try another dealer.

18M01 Is only for the following trucks

2011-2012 F250-F550
2013-2015 F450-F550

Looks like you have an F350 so your truck would not be included.

Odd that they exclude the 13-15 250/350s even though they're the same system right? And built in the same plant? And no mention of any 2016s at all.

Loopholes maybe?

Yeah, my 2015 repair was covered under (emissions?) warranty.

It's past the 3/36 but I do have an ESP, but with a deductible and I DID NOT have to pay a deductible when they replaced my DEF heater.

I literally just went through this a couple days ago. I too am getting the P20BA code and when I went to my dealer they looked up my vin and I didnt qualify because it's only effective on the 15s with a build date prior to Dec 14, 2014 I believe. Mine was built on may 3, 2015. That's why mine didnt qualify. I'm pretty ticked about it.

My VIN tag shows a build date 01/15 on it and it was repaired under warranty. Weird?

This TSB is such BS. So much confusion and inconsistency. They need to cover all the heaters on every truck. Indont know how they can determine which ones will fail and which ones wont.

I agree 100%.

Maybe they think they can narrow the problem heaters down to a particular batch, or production run or whatever, but apparently NOT!

It's not a batch problem, it's a design flaw in the DEF system / heater / etc.... all together.

My build date is 11/2014. But I guess this wasn't for 2015 F-350's? I may give Ford's customer service a call on Monday.

Let us know what they tell you. I'm curious as to whether or not they'll take care of the others who apparently dont "qualify" for the TSB.
