I have a question about Ford's Valve Grind Gasket Kit 5c3z-6079-g. Does anyone know what all is included in it. I am getting my parts list together to redo my head gasket.
From what I can recall, it includes (and there certainly may be more): head gaskets oil & EGR cooler gaskets injector o-rings fuel bowl o-rings and seals high pressure oil rail fittings, o-rings & seals dummy plug seals (old ones I believe) turbo gaskets rocker carrier gaskets thermostat gasket standpipes I believe it also includes intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, and intake manifold donut o-ring (not 100% sure though)
It does not include exhaust manifold gaskets. IIRC the dummy plug seals are just for the old style dummy plugs, so the updated dummy plugs would be wise in that case.
Ok here is question 2. Do you think it is worth it to get this kit and use OEM headgaskets, or piece it together and use Felpro headgasket. Either would be used with most likely KDD o-ringed head and ARP studs.
Or a third option is to get this kit, buy FelPro head gaskets, and don't use the OEM head gaskets (ie buy the Fel Pro gaskets separately). Afterall, the head bolts will get "discarded!
IMO piecing it together will be about what this kit costs - even if discarding the bolts and head gaskets
I don’t know if monetary its worth it if you are going to discard both gaskets and the non sellable head bolts.
I was able to get the Felpro head gaskets from RockAuto on one of the several “wholesaler closeout” times for around $25 each. That, along with if you are not going to use the head bolts doesn’t make the kit that appealing to me.
From what I can "piece together" it is a wash (cost) buying the kit and discarding the bolts AND the OEM gaskets vs buying the individual gasket sets - around $500
Thanks for the info, I decided to piece the parts together. I will be easier now that I have a much better idea of what it comes with. I really don't need all those extra bits and pieces.
RockAuto doesn't seem to carry as much Motorcraft any longer for our trucks, so this is mostly Mahle, the supplier. Does not include the EGR hose/gaskets or the standpipes as they were of a poor grade.
Perhaps the standpipes aren't needed ..... if they have already been updated.
If the standpipes are included that is another $100 and the EGR kit is another $87.
Also looks like the Rock Auto intake gasket set already includes some injector o-rings. May not need the last like item (3C3Z09229-AA) that you included - depending on how deep into the injectors one would need to go.
