Wondering if anyone has any instructions or pictures of removing the 239 flathead. I'm taking out my motor in my 53' . Its equiped with a 4spd sync if that matters?
Not much to go on here.
It’s impossible to get the engine out without removing the hood.
It’s easier to remove the engine and trans as a complete assembly.
It’s also easier to remove the front clip and then remove the power train.
Are you rebuilding the Flathead or replacing it with something else?

It looks pretty straight forward. Im going to drop in another flathead for the time being. Current motor is stuck.
Get a shop manual? Even a simple brake job or carburetor service, having the steps laid out in a methodical order helps the task at hand go more smoothly. This stuff is supposed to be fun, I guess, or we wouldn't bother right?

I do not. was just going to search out what holds it together and start unbolting..... So if you have any hints, tricks, tips, pictures, cave drawings i'm more than happy to receive that info.
That's why I sort of suggested you buy one, not whether you have one. I've been bending wrenches a while, but I still like to use it. For one thing, my memory isn't what it was when I was 24 and there was so much more. Not ready for Happy Acres just yet, but it's nice to have everything laid out. Sometimes the manual has unnecessary steps, or there are better "field" methods, but sometimes too the manual lists "gotchas" and things I might not have thought through all the way. It's just a guide, but a really valuable one. Keeps my cluttered mind halfway organized. To each his own, I always say. But, get a Shop Manual, if not for this task, just for reference, torques, capacities, lube orders &c.

thanks,
I'm not sure what you need but here are some pictures. It is pretty straight forward removal but much easier with the grill and front fenders removed. Note that they can be removed as an assembly.
