I am working on my 292 in my '64 F100. Someone had mismatched heads on it and they needed rebuilt anyway. So I found another small valve set that were rebuilt, for a killer deal, with lots of extra parts too. The heads are both C1AE . . one with a casting date of 1962 and the other . . has a 7 for the year. as in 1967. Can't be 1957 because they are C1AE heads and tiny valves to boot. So . . did Ford continue to cast Y Block heads through 1967 for sales over the counter and service?
All that really matters is that they are both C1AE.
There were heads cast after the end of vehicle production so it's possible. I would not expect it to have the C1AE casting id if it was, though. I think it is more likely that the digit indicating the year was flawed while casting or maybe it was Friday or end of shift and the person setting things up did not pay attention.
When authorized FoMoCo rebuilders ran low on cylinder heads, FoMoCo would cast new ones. The last head casting number was used along with a new date code.
So it's possible to have C1AE heads w/a ... for example, 7AC date code: Third week (C) of January (A), 1967 (7).

Thanks, I was just looking for any factual info on whether they might have been casting them as late as '67.
