The NSS is in neutral. When the vehicle is put in reverse the reverse lights come on. The vehicle will crank fine in P, & N and not in any other loc.(D,R,1, or 2). The batteries are charged and have been checked. Both batteries have been disconnected for longer than 30 minutes. No errors were detected with the OBD2 (innova 3030).
The vehicle will crank crank but not start. The fuel filter has been replaced (was black) fuel was in the bowl. A whisper of starter fluid was blown into the intake and it started briefly and then stopped.
Your theft light is normal.
I can only be minimal help as I have a 2001, but it's still a 7.3.
It's probably a good time to ask for more symptomology. When was the vehicle last running, was ANYTHING done to it just prior to it not firing off? Like any mods, battery replacements, fuses touched, anything?
How did the shift linkage come off, was it from a bad bushing?
Has the glow plug module and relays been tested?
Have you checked the plug pigtails for the EOT (engine oil temp sensor), ICP (injection control pressure) sensor, IPR (injection pressure regulator).
The most important, and probably the first place to start:
You're not getting a response from your Tach when cranking, have you tried a new camshaft position sensor? on the 2001 the tachometer will move when cranking.
I will be changing the cam shaft sensor this morning.
Before this happened (and I mean right before the linkage came off) the vehicle had been driving fine. It was driven to a location, put into park(left running) and then when she returned to it minutes later it wouldn't go out of park because the linkage under the vehicle had become disconnected. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF.😩
At first I thought it was the cable in the column so I took apart the housing around the column (also removing the key mechanism), and the fuse block to get a better look there. That cable was off also. After putting that back together and realizing that didn't help I looked below and saw the linkage. Since then the vehicle hasn't started.
You mentioned removing the fuse block to have a better look at the interior shift cable, might be a good place to return to as there is possibly a poor connection after disturbing it.
Yes, I thought too, and have returned to it more than once also checking all fuses (just the bus type) and even found one out in the #2 slot but nothing else...
The TRS has been changed. The error results were prior to this change.
The cam sensor has been changed.
The fuel filter has been changed.
The batteries are charged and have been checked but still it will turn over but not start. I'd take it to a mechanic if I could get it to one and they could look at it within two weeks.
