I have a 2002 Ford f150 my 4.6 Triton V8 2 wheel drive I'm having a problem with rough idle misfiring and hesitation if somebody could please I will give you the rundown I bought the truck about nine months ago noticed that my check engine light was on went and took it to a shop I said I needed to the coil packs so I get the coil packs then my PCM was bad and replaced at all at the same time now I'm driving it about three weeks I got my check engine light came on again took her to O'Reilly's plugging in diagnostics they said it was spark plugs should I read the spark plugs still has a tatian still misfiring running roughly then I talked to a mechanic and he said try the fuel injectors your fuel injectors if they are bad can give you a misfire code so I just changed my fuel injectors truck ran for a little bit shut off stop running checked all the pigtails for the coil packs come to find out that one of the pigtails was easy to slide on and off and that the rubber grommet inside the pigtail was broken can somebody please tell me would that cause the truck not to start because of a poor connection from sitting on from the pigtail onto a coil pack somebody please
This is a sad case of no proper diagnostics and guessing.
It cost you a PCM, and what other charges and parts with no final repairs.
a. Fuel injectors was guessing.
b. PCM was guessing.
c. Coil packs ..guessing.
Now you have a no start.
.
What is needed to be known:
1. When the PCM was replaced, was it reprogrammed for Pats? If not there will be NO START.
2. What codes are being set? Your code reading sources mis-lead you and themselves into spending for parts not proven the to be the cause of the problem.
.
I had to tell you like it is from your description of the whole thing as a learning about what not to do.
That is no guessing, no parts until proven to be a need.
Running here and there is a big problem when you have no back ground knowledge.
This is why your here now.
Good luck.
