DRW retrofit question

I have an 84 F250HD Centurion with a sterling DRW conversion. The ring gear and carrier were stolen along with the bearing caps and differential cover. I have a line on another sterling DRW setup from a 97 F350 pickup. Question is, will it fit my 84. I'm worried that there will be a difference in spring perch locations. Any advice would be appreciated.

If your 84 was a pickup from the factory, and the 97 was a pickup from the factory, it will fit up. If either one was a incomplete or cab and chassis truck, it will not swap. Sometime in the 90's Ford updated the Sterling. They were having problems with the splines on the pinion wearing out. This would let the pinion rock back and forth and loosen the nut that holds it in place. The next thing that happens is the seal starts leaking, along with extra clunking back there. If the 97 has the updated pinion, the snoot will be longer on the pumpkin, and you may have to shorten your driveshaft a little bit. This is a good update, I would shorten the shaft and use the updated rearend if you have to.
