Hopefully someone has some info on this. i am replacing the starter on my 2003 7.3 Ex. A friend gave me a brand new Ford starter 2c3z-11002-aa. problem i see is that the gear doesnt have the extended smooth part on the gear.. if i check fitment on websites with my vin, it shows a positive fitment.. what do you think
Sorry, can't help but here's a bump. I can't see any purpose for that part that sticks out other than maybe housing the spring that pushes the gear back down (Bendix spring?)
