Hi all, I have a question that I have been dealing with and it has driven me nuts. My 88 Bronco was working fine until my son plugged in a friends trailer to haul 4-wheelers. ever since then the headlights will not work with the switch all the way out, you have to pull it out and then push it back a bit to make everything work, same situation on the parking lights. Also, the wipers will not work on low or intermittent with the engine running, but fine with the engine off. I have pulled off the trailer wiring and any accessories, checked every fuse, replaced the headlight switch, you name it, but the problems are still there. Can anyone help me out on what to check next before i jsut set it on fire?
thanks in advance! Oh, also, the truck seems to smoke now and seem to be burning rich and never has before.....
WOW! I would be asking what your kid and friend did to the truck. I dont know of or never heard of trailer wiring causing that much stuff to happen. Did you go with them? Did they rough up the truck when they had it out? Maybe they 4 wheeled the truck as well as the 4 wheelers.
well, the problem happened as soon as they plugged up the trailer to the bronco. i know my trailer wiring is right, because i has used different trailers for years without ever having a problem until this one. cant be anything else, but some electrical problem, plus the bronco never went off road, that is why they took the 4-wheelers.
nope, just a 88 bronco, with the 4-pin trailer connector. nothing special, just small trailers with running lights. like i said, the with the light swithc pulled all the way out, the chime doesnt even go off, but you can push it back just a bit and everything works fine. same way with the first click of the switch where the running lights should work. but you have to go just past it for it to work and the instrument lights and everything else works. driving me nuts! is there any relays under the hood i am missing that would be headlight or running light related?
Not that I am aware of, but then again, I have an 85 so your may be a bit different than mine. Sorry I couldn't help. Anyone els ein here give Jakaroo some help? You definately got a wierd one. That switch thing seems more like a mechanical prob with the switch but you already siad you replaced it. SO that is out.
I have been having the same problem with my 89'. I too replaced the switch to no avail. The divide between running lights and headlights seems to be growing and it is amlost impossible to get them both on at the same time. Have you had any luck?
