So after having the windshield replaced, the truck was still leaking. I did some seam sealing around the drip rails and it seems to have slowed the leaks down substantially. There is no water intrusion during a light rain but we had almost 24 hours of moderate to heavy downpours yesterday and today and there was a small amount of water inside. Not much, but a little bit.
But I have had the dashboard out since I got the windshield replaced and I need to get this thing driveable again, so I spent the weekend reinstalling the dash. I got pretty far, I still have a few pieces to reinstall but for the most part it is back together. I think I'm going to make some better gaskets for the cab lights even though they were new when I installed them last year.
I love dash R&R... It's always the one where I have the most stuff left over.
I hear ya on that. Luckily I didn't have any left over screws or bolts. In fact I was missing a couple that I probably dropped. I think I dropped a couple in the cowl. They'll fall out eventually lol. I went up to the junkyard today and got some of the ones I was missing, so I should be able to get it all back together now. The water leaks are still going to irritate me. I may even get one of those pop up tents to park the cab under. They look kinda ghetto but it's better than water in the truck.
Got this just about back together today. I installed all those screws I got at the junkyard, spliced a few wires back together, put the wipers on, and put the kick panels and a pillar trim back in place. I got new clips for the windshield chrome trim but they are a little too tight so I have to bend them a bit and then I can get the chrome trim on. I am going to leave the sill plates off for now so that I can monitor any water intrusion for the next few weeks.
I also had the front bumper off because my passenger side radiator support mount had cracked and I needed the room to weld it back up. I made some fishplates to reinforce it so that it won't break again. Once it was welded up I got the front bumper back on.
Have you pulled the cowl off & looked at the seam sealer in there?
I redid this on my old black truck since it was really deteriorated and appeared to be leaking. This and the rubber drains being clogged up are often the issue from what I have seen.
If your truck was originally built at the Kansas City Assembly plant, it should've had one. Mine was missing when I got the truck, and I wanted one because I think it looks cool, so I wrote a letter to the UAW local 249 that represents the plant and asked for a replacement sticker. They sent me two of them plus a couple other neat stickers.
No, unfortunately nothing to drink in them, just bolts and clips. Some people use egg cartons but I find them to be too small.
That is awesome! The 11th digit in my VIN is K, so it looks like my 94 was born there too. Do you have the contact info for the UAW 249? I just got a new Ford OEM windshield and would love to replace this decal.

I still have the letter they sent me, I'll get you the address off of it.

I thought I updated this but I guess I didnt. For the most part they are sealed up. During a light rain it doesn't leak at all. If it is a torrential downpour for several hours, I may get a few drops inside but not very much. Still hard to tell where its coming from but I'm suspecting the cab lights, despite them being only a year old.
I'm calling it good enough for now. I really needed the truck back together because it is a major inconvenience to not have it.

Sounds about the same as mine. Even though I R&R'd the steering column and re-sealed it with some polyurethane roofing sealant, I still get an occasional drop or three. For me, the biggest difference seemed to come from replacing the cowl/hood seal, which seems crazy to me. That seal should be a "helper", not the primary seal. It would seem to me that if that seal was missing entirely you still shouldn't get water into the cabin.

Thanks for the link, I'll have to read through when I get a chance. Replacing that cowl seal helped a lot with mine too. I agree it shouldn't be the primary seal. I figure its a 25 year old truck, and it's been apart countless times, it's probably never going to be perfect.
Boy am i glad i found this through the search function; i've gotten sick of my 90 leaking in the rain.
Who is your glass guy 95fiveoh? We both seem to be in the Pittsburgh Metro Area, and if he knows old Fords then i need his contact info: my windshield is leaking profusely in the rain and i would rather get a professional in here instead of a chain store
If i can find that leak then its on to the door seals, since those leak like a sieve if i sit still in a torrential downpour

Yep I'm in SW PA.
I used Xtreme Auto Glass of Pittsburgh. Casey is a stand up guy and will do a good job. Whatever you do avoid Safelite.

Good, i just sent a request over through their website. Hopefully its Casey that comes to do the job, since i'm guessing he knows OBS's well enough to not cause damage.
Whats the best way to get that trim off? i've only removed it in a junkyard and i just ripped it off by brute force because the truck was going to be crushed the next day and i just needed the wiper motor

You can just pop it off with a flathead screwdriver if you are careful but the correct way is to use one of these tools. Harbor freight sells them.
