I thought about KDD heads and went to the shop in Texas that imports them by the pallet from China and saw it all. Glad you guys had good luck with them but I’m not crazy about the idea of imported aluminum or iron heads. UCF were great to work with and I wanted to do it once and be done.
Yeah I get the whole imported from China dilemma and the possibility of failure, but for some reason, KDD must not experience any of this because I have never heard of ONE failure from his company's products.
I looked at Jared's track record and endorsement from Charlie over at KC Turbo and decided it could still be a gamble. After talking to Jared personally on the phone, I knew the choice was clear.....at least for me.
From what he has said, Jared goes through the cores and rejects those he doesn't find acceptable. But I think he also said he has a deal with the supplier, which may mean the bad cores go back into circulation elsewhere.
If I was going the O-Ring route, KDD would be where I'd go.

Now I have a few more questions.
1 would a leaky head gasket cause the issues I had while I was towing a couple weeks ago. I had fine temps for an hour or so, then the temps were all over the place.
2 I guessing i have a small right now, since I don't have the classic symptoms. No puking, no coolant, no real overheating.
3 is there any thing else I should look at or just get ready to do the gaskets?
Thanks
I'm in the same boat. I think I will be going with new KDD O-ring heads as well. My overheating problem started slowly getting worse. This last trip my truck finally got the hottest it's ever gotten, up to 236 ECT. I'm putting together a parts list and hope to get started soon but it's still hitting triple digits here in Central CA and it's hot in the garage.
Ok so now I need to do the head gaskets so I am developing my parts list and it is getting long.

I just replaced the oil cooler recently and my deltas are good, so I plan on leaving it in place.
I am trying to decide about one of those coolant return kits.
Is there any thing else I should consider or add to my list?
I am giong to do the coolant return kit as well. I am also thinking about getting the injector rebuild kit and new spool valves as well while it's all apart from https://bitterrootdiesel.com/collect...-0-powerstroke. I have had stiction for years but it's been ok since I've been using Archoil.
If you have over 100k miles on it I would replace the lifters you have access to. If I ever had to do heads on another of these motors, I pull it so I could replace all the lifters.
I’d change my mind if a few people with 100k plus miles destructively inspected the lifters and I saw the needles were all excellent.
