Hi, Been here awhile but haven't had the occasion to post and after searching through posts and checking the owners manual I now have a dilemma. I have a RV (LazyDaze) on this E-350 chassis from 1997 and the wipers work but the washer isn't making a sound. I've checked for fuses/relay that would control the operation of the windshield washer pump and don't see any. I'm in the process of ordering a factory service manual to go through the checks but was wondering if anyone can post the diagnostics in the interim or if they've had this issue and what they found that works. Thanks in advance.
Most likely the pump itself has failed---since you have wipers the fuse and Wiper Control Module seem to be working fine. I've changed my own pump and washer solution bottle, used OEM as I don't use cheap aftermarket parts for things like this. In my case I removed the battery and battery tray for easy access to the bottle and pump.

Thanks JWA, since everything in the tree(switch) works except the washer I wasn't sure if there's another fuse or relay that could be the culprit. Before I order a new pump ( likely a motorcraft) I will see about getting voltage to the pump and if I do, than it's the pump. The link you provided I believe is the focus of removal and hopefully don't need to go through all of that if it's just the pump. Hopefully removal of the battery and tray don't involve all that work.

Yes the link I provided is about removing the bottle which is where the pump is located. If you find a better, quicker or easier way to replace just the pump in-frame please share that discovery with us here---could be helpful to others down the road.

Not a bad idea at all however if the pump is working it can be heard and the washer solution would drain onto the ground leaving a puddle.
Thanks HandyAl and JWA- curious if either of you based on your prior experiences how you checked the pump? Based on JWA's response I should removed the bottle to check it but that begs the question on just how you check it? It appears that to get to it you removed the battery and tray, but then you lose the ability to check for voltage. Are you able to remove the plug from the pump without removing the battery and tray? Since electrical parts are non-returnable would hate to just order it w/o knowing how to check it prior and w/o removing the whole bottle just to get to the plug.
I replaced my bottle because the original on the new-to-me was leaking---or so I thought. The actual problem was the rubber fill neck was not fitting onto the bottle properly so after the washer solution reached a certain level the extra would leak out.
Testing the existing pump should be easily enough done without removing a thing Position yourself some where near the installed washer bottle/pump is located and have a helper cycle the wiper washers, engine off and in a somewhat quiet space. If the pump is working it will make a noise. If you're unable to access the connector for the washer motor---here's a photo of the uninstalled washer bottle/pump:
I don't know if your RV is a cab/chassis with added living space or if the entire body is made by the RV manufacturer---if that's the case these components might not be in the same location as I'm talking about. On the typical E-Series full body the pump and connector is at the bottom of the bottle nestled just slightly above the steel inner structure or wheel well---I don't know of any way to access the connector terminals with the bottle/pump still installed.
This photo is another view of the washer bottle pump connector, the washer bottle pulled upwards so its not sitting in its final location. As can be seen its necessary to remove the battery and tray for access IF your RV is an E-Series full body or cab/chassis.
Anyway that's what I know---sorry if its not helpful enough for you.
Well, the pump isn't making a sound from in the cab. It use to, so I'm probably going to have to replace the pump based in what I've researched this far and your feedback. I'm just awaiting the used service manual to do my due diligence. The engine compartment is the same. Thanks again JWA. Be well.
