When I bought the truck just over a year ago, the lower middle of the front bumper was bent in like someone had run something over. The driving lights were broken out, just the mounting tabs were still on the bumper and the wiring tucked off to the side. This past weekend I painted the bumper I had ordered and installed the new driving lights. Turn on the headlights and pull the switch out and the driving/fog lamp indicator on the switch lights up, but not the driving lamps. Fuse 42 (or is it 43?) is a 10 amp and its good. I took a meter to the lamp sockets and there is no power.
So before I start tracing the wiring forward and back, might anyone have any thoughts on what I should check 1st?
I'll take a stab and offer some info as the harnesses may be the same after the firewall. On my 01 the wiring leaves the under hood fuse box, and firewall connectors, it travels along the frame behind the fender liner, and right around the drivers frame horn there is a connector which ties in the complete bumper harness that terminates to the fog light plugs. Maybe you have a connection issue or broken/chaffed wire where that frame horn connection plug probably might be. If you look at my own thread, I post pics of my adding factory fog lights, I had to purchase the bumper harness and connect it to the existing harness plug at the frame horn.
I've been busy getting both the EX and my Shelby ready to take to Myrtle Beach for Mustang Week that I had not had a chance to look at the light issue. I had to use the EX's headlights to light up the Shelby last night and noticed that the driving/fog lights are now working. Glad for that, but still leaves me wondering why they were not before. Now, all the external lights are LED's.
