4WD problem
Today i had to use 4HI in some soft sand. When i tried to return to 2WD, it wouldn't disengage from 4HI...I tried going forward, reverse, turning hubs, truck on and off, unhooked batteries and even tried tapping on the actuator underneath. I limped to my dealer because i was only about 5 miles away. Has anyone ever experienced this before? My truck is a 2017 diesel with 28,000 miles

That is why I prefer real lock out hubs and a shifter on the floor. That system is simpler and better.
my 2019 350 has the modern system. I would have much preferred the old ways.
if they remake the 1979 I will buy one.

Try turning the steering left/right while driving. On my prior truck, it would get stuck coming out of 4Hi. Turning the steering worked every time. However, it was a different system (IFS) than what we have on the Super Duty trucks.
