2017 F-350 DRW, Job 2 (I think - 6/17 build date) . When draining the fuel/water separator the fuel keeps flowing. Not supposed to happen on job 2. It is happening now. What can I do?
There’s lots of threads on this and I don’t know if there was an exact answer. From what I have read is most guys do the filter changes when they are low on fuel. I think one guys said parking on an incline helped. This is strictly a 2017 problem.
Park with the front of the truck up slope, release the pressure in the fuel tank by opening the fuel cap, and then close it properly, and yes, it does help having an extremely low fuel tank, ideally less than an 1/8 of a tank, even perhaps running at 0 miles to empty.
I just replaced mine on my 2017 (April build) with just under half tank, parked on my driveway facing up the slope and it stopped draining after about 1 gallon. I didn’t do anything with the fuel cap. If being parked up slope is the trick, It might explain why mine was so easy. Ill turn the truck around for the next one and see what happens
On my 2016 it would run forever unless you unscrewed the filter canister about 1 turn to stop it from siphoning from the tank. All these from MY 2011 and up use the same filter assembly and filters so MY 2017 makes no difference.

Not true, MY 17+ uses a completley different filter and housing.
