We bought the truck with an inoperable e4od. PO said there was a “snap” and the truck stopped driving.
It was a very good price because of this. We live in the mountains and dont use overdrive at all.
So the cost of all the mods and extra parts comes out less than a “rebuilt” e4od with a 12k/12mo warranty.
The c6 looks about 8 inches shorter. So the tranny mount cross member needs to move forward.
Is it the same cross member?
We have a rear driveshaft from an 83 extended cab 2wd 460/c6 that is longer than existing.
Is it the same cross member?
Can we use the existing transfer case?
Is there linkage mods from column shifter to c6 linkage?
Pulled c6 from 89 F250 diesel 4wd. No trans crossmember or driveshafts. PO drove 75mph consistently and blew a rod.
The transfer case sounds like it has a part loose inside.
Plan to use the existing transfer case from E4OD combo. At a quick glance, looks like we have to change the front mounting collar from c6 transfer case.
Flywheel, adaptor (that fits between torque converter and flywheel) and torque converter on hand
some linkage (bent up but possibly salvageable)
vacuum piece that controls shift points
rear driveshaft from 83 F250 2wd 460/c6.
you can use the transfer case from the E4OD, it is the same case.
unfortunately, you will need a vacuum regulator valve. and they are currently made of unobtanium.
and you may need to change the injector pump to one that will accept the VRV.
the cross member will not work, you will need one for a C-6.
Pic one shows the part for vacuum and speedo cable. Is this the vacuum part that is unobtainium or do you mean another?
pic 2 shows e4od trans crossmember that looks like it can slide forward approx 8 inches.. . Anyone have a pic of c6 crossmember so i know exactly what am looking for?
will a c6 crossmember from a standard cab, or 2wd, or gas engine work?
smart of you to grab the VRV. the E4OD cross member can work, but you will have to drill new mounting holes in the frame to fit the new location under the C6
cool, looks like you are in luck. one vacuum line goes to the vacuum manifold on the firewall, the other goes to the modulator valve on the back of the trans.
if i remember correctly, the top line is vacuum in, bottom is vacuum out to the trans modulator.
