Recently I upgraded the wheels and tires on my f250. Since they are about 35in tall I leveled the front and wanted to use a 2in add a leaf springs on the rear. Took it to the heavy duty truck center near my house and they did all the work, but said they could not figure out the add a leaf, and claimed it was the wrong part. I called the company (SD Truck Springs). and they confirmed my order was correct and explained how to do it. Had to then call the shop and give them the number of SDsprings and have the company walk them through the process. Even after the conversation the shop claimed they couldn't put it where they are suppose to. Their claim is that they couldn't bend the existing leafs that far. Their conclusion was they want to use the add a leaf as a helper spring on top of the leaf pack. Maybe I am naive but if the part is correct and is an add a leaf it should go in there no problems. Is this a case where the shop really does not know what they are doing, could they really break the existing leafs, or was it just too much for them to take on. It should be a pretty straight forward install correct?
If they put it on top of the other springs, it will not lift it. If they can't figure out how to install an add a leaf, then I don't think I would be doing business with them.
Add a leaf is a simple install. It goes on the bottom of the spring pack. All you need is a few C clamps to keep the spring pack together when you undo the center bolt that holds them together.
I'd find a other shop as they obliviously do not understand the simple process of doing it.
As stated, it will not work if they put it on top as an overload spring.
I agree with Crusty, find another shop. Sounds to me like they don’t want to do it. Like my CP4 / DPK debacle, I took all the risk. Wound up costing me quite a bit of money but I was told when they started ‘we’ve never done that before, we’ll give it a shot’ which to me = whatever happens I have to deal with the consequences. That’s within reason of course. All I asked is that I be treated fairly, which I was.

Yeah I found an offroad shop that thinks they can do it
