Hi Guys...Been a while. Been doing some research and have found some info on C6's leaking back into the trans from the torque converter causing fluid to run out any orifice it can find. My 63 Galaxie has a 390 and C6(Yes a C6 not original trans). I was not able to get around to shortening up the shift linkage so when I parked it (For several months) it was not in Park but in was Neutral. Found a brief comment in a post that if the tranny is left in neutral it could leak back. I was going to put a leak back valve in the tranny cooler line, but before I do just wanted to check with you guys about the Neutral thing. Now I have adjusted the linkage and have car running well and the brakes working. I plan on filling it up with fluid again and running it this weekend. Just don't want to come and find a gallon of tranny fluid on the floor.
The torque converter check valve is in the valve body. If its draining back it's a valve body issue and if its leaking the whole transmission should be gone through. I assume this isn't a new rebuild? Neutral and park are the same position but neutral doesn't engage the parking pawl.
what is it just a check ball that sits on the separator plate... it's probably missing ... or is it actually a Ball and spring.... been long time since I went thru a C6

TBH the converter leaking back into the tranny can only empty Half of the converter and I wouldn't think that should cause it to puke fluid all over the floor unless other seals are bad and leaking
I replaced the pump and front seal. I also replaced the rear tail shaft seal. I replaced a filter and filter gasket. It looks to leak out the shifter arm hole. I added 4 quarts today and it brought it right up to the full mark hot. I have heard that its a common problem with the early C6's. Thanks for the thought.
