Need help finding Regional Representative

I have a 2014 Super Duty that the engine blew on at just over 100k miles. Ford advertises this engine to easily hit 500k miles with "barely an oil change." Started a case with Ford to see if they would step up and cover at least SOME of the $18,000 repair bill for a new engine. They are of course refusing to help me out AT ALL. I saw on here on another thread where a regional rep might be of assistance. Seems they are impossible to find names/numbers for. Anyone know a resource for this information? I am in Georgia. Thank you in advance!

Was this truck purchased new or used? What was the failure, have you received a case number from Ford? I do have a possible contact for you but what is your location?

Also worth mentioning but Ford never said these would last 500k. The B10 life Ford uses is an estimate and only applies to detuned 330hp and below engines as used in medium duty trucks.

Who mentioned litigation? I'm just trying to get Ford to stand behind their "super duty" truck that barely made it over 100k miles.

Bought new. Tech said it threw a rod. Said it was "unheard of with an engine like that with that mileage." yes, I have a case number. Regular maintenance was done on the truck. Did not use it to haul or any kind of stressful work on the engine. Started with loud knock, then brake failure while on the highway, then dash lit up with every warning, then the engine just stopped. I am north of Atlanta in Georgia.

Looks like litigation to me. "Started a case" ? Good luck, hopefully they help on this fix.

Opened a case with the Ford Customer Service. And thanks! Not looking too good though.

dcloud, not trying to belittle you or bad mouth you, but a warranty doesn't cover the truck for ever. You have the 3/36k bumper to bumper and then the 5/50k Power Stroke to cover items that fail during those times. You could have purchased the extended warranty during the first 3 years of ownership to cover you 7 or 8 years up to like 150k miles.

Not sure why you are expecting Ford to cover this failure even if the advertising did give you the impression of the 6.7 going to zillions of miles. A warranty is for a specific time period, not beyond it. I know it is going to be expensive to your pocket book but suck it up and live with it. There ought to be plenty of used 6.7 engines that can cut the cost in half over a new one replaced at the dealer.

just my 2 cents on this.

I get it. But when you spend almost $70k on a HEAVY DUTY DIESEL TRUCK, you expect the engine to last a little longer than 100k miles. Kinda hard to "SUCK UP" an $18,000 engine replacement when diesels are supposed to just be getting broken in at this mileage.

Thanks for your two cents.

I spent similar for mine, but I bought the extended warranty for the reasons that I wanted the coverage since I knew repair cost would be expensive.

But chit happens, it appears you were the one it happened to. And life ain't fair as I use to tell my kids, so yes, suck it up and bite the bullet instead of whining here and having a pity party.

There is a new engine on eBay for $7700 with free shipping and the price includes the $1200 core. A lot cheaper than the $18,000 you are quoting. Even with a weeks labor (unreal time if it took this long) is 40 hours @ $125/hour is another $5000 for a total of approx $12500 for a new engine. You could get a used engine from LKQ and installed for a lot less and they do warranty it for a selected time period.

As a dealership technician I don't have much to offer, other than my opinion on what the likely outcome will be, from my experience in similar situations to this that I've seen coming through our dealership. I agree 100% that an "$18000 pill" is hard to swallow. However, if you've had regular service done at the dealership, at within the manufacturer recommended service intervals, I see no reason why your dealership and Ford Motor Company wouldn't step up to the plate to assist with the repair cost. However, much of it is dependent on how often you've had your truck serviced at the dealership. In other words, if you've had your services done outside of the dealership, it will be more than likely that your request for assistance is denied. I hope Ford Motor Company steps up to the plate for you.

Always enjoy stories of owners that gamble on owning a modern vehicle outside of warranty and complain about the manufacturer when super expensive stuff breaks. Ford did all they could to keep the vehicle under an ESP plan but the owner gambled and lost. Part of never purchasing an extended warranty is writing crazy large checks on occasion.

Every Ford owner should know that Ford tends to not help in these situations.

I agree with OP. He is not expecting much....the original warranty was 100k on the 6 7, something many owners aren't aware of. You shouldn't ever expect that the main component of your vehicle to need an entire replacement just out of warranty. A head gasket, cracked radiator, starter etc and no one is really too upset. But an entire $18k engine is really upsetting to anyone who owns one of these trucks, dont care how much money you have.

Hopefully ford helps out here.
