I agree with OP. He is not expecting much....the original warranty was 100k on the 6 7, something many owners aren't aware of. You shouldn't ever expect that the main component of your vehicle to need an entire replacement just out of warranty. A head gasket, cracked radiator, starter etc and no one is really too upset. But an entire $18k engine is really upsetting to anyone who owns one of these trucks, dont care how much money you have.
Hopefully ford helps out here.
It was well past warranty. The Power Stroke engine warranty is only 50K for my 2015, would assume similar for the 2014. The 2014 is also 6 years old and the bumper to bumper is only for 3 years.
I misread the warranty, but still, it is out of warranty and beyond the 5 years. The powertrain is 50K. They do not come with lifetime warranty or similar

You're the exact type of person I'm talking about and by being ignorant, you have no clue what you're entitled to. The 6.7 warrany is for 100k. His truck is a 2014. If its 5 years and 100k.....HE IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY!
Again, no reason the main and most expensive part of a 50k plus truck should implode exactly as the warranty is ending.
Ford should absolutely help, maybe not buy it all, but splitting would be a good show.
Okay here we go let's get the thread locked you've got to be kidding me you think that Ford wouldn't stand behind an engine that roll over a hundred thousand miles within that short of a time give me a break. The 6.7 that's supposed to be bulletproof is the biggest BS I've ever heard coming from owning a 16 that imploded on itself with lower crank bearings and then losing the fuel pump and blaming me what bull**** they're all the same though unfortunately so don't think it's greener on the other side the customer always is left holding the bag. I have a friend that just lost the front timing cover at 100000 90 MI 90 miles over the hundred thousand mile warranty on a 2016 and they wouldn't pay for the $5,000 worth of repairs give me a break do they have any respect for their engines or Ford my service manager told me when I lost my mid engine oil pan at 150 on my 2017 don't expect a bit of help from Ford they're not the same company they've ever been. Personally I didn't care I'll write it off in business at least unlike the 16 it didn't lose the bottom end at 67,000 miles but saying these 6.7 are bulletproof is total bull**** never what I expect an engine to lose oil seals at only a hundred and fifty thousand miles and then of course the stupidity that you have to take off the mid pan lower pan and disassemble the entire truck to replace a timing cover great engineering Ford I will be leaving Ford Motor Company and giving Ram one more chance I love that new ram 6 7 especially now that they have the hydraulic lifters less lash adjustment we'll see keep giving ford all your money don't complain and pretty soon you won't even have a warranty good day
One other quick point we all talked about numbers 100,000 miles is the cut number that's BS too. I don't expect Ford to stand behind an engine for the rest of its life but when you're talkin two to three hundred miles over that number and a well-maintained vehicle meticulously maintained with records that's totally stock come on get real have some pride in what you build and help your customer out even if they just split the bill but not ford. I can tell you stories about my 2009 F350 that had a front-end issue they took care of me incredible they are not the same company anymore that goes without saying . Like I said you can't expect things to be warranty forever but there's certain things that shouldn't go bad in that short of time oil seals and crank rods and a well-maintained motor that's totally stock should not be having these discussions at less than 200,000 miles give me a break
Seems pretty cut and dry then, no? Yes it sucks, but there can't be a grace period. It's like letting your dog jump on the couch. If you let them do it occasionally, they'll do it all the time.
I feel for the OP but as I was reading this thread it brought me back to how they were made 50 years ago. Anyone getting 100k miles out of an engine back then bragged how good it is and today if it blows at 100k they are considered pieces of shiite... My how things have changed
