Hi everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. my name is Ray and go by RayRay1963. I just got back into the Hobby after being away for about 15 years. I pickuped (no pun intended) a pair of trucks, one a running (barely) 70 F100 and a nonrunning 72 F100 Ranger. while wandering what I had gotting myself into , my neighbor's 18 year old son happened by and "ask what all the junk was" and i began to explain to him that these were old trucks that i was planning on restoring, and he just laughted, wander on home. The next day to my suprise he was back and asked he he could help and try and learn some of the old tricks of my youth. How could I refuse free help. It was easy to see that there was alot of greasy and dirty work ahead, so i said sure. that sunday night he asked if i would make a list of things i wanted done while i was at work and he would work on them while i was gone. I thought i would take it easy on him and only listed a few simple things. and by lunch time the next day he was calling me at work asking for more to too, because he was already done with the list and was getting bored.
When I got home that evening I was blown away to find everything done, tools put up and the shop clean. So i made him a deal, if he would keep up the great work and help me with the 72 I would give him, the 70 model and help him redo it for himself. He took me up on it and it been a great experence to work with some one so young and excited to learn. We hope to have some pics up on the site before long, so every one can see were we started and were we are at now. I have a great dad to help me out and am glad to be able to help some other young man get hooked on old cars and trucks.
What a great sport.

Ray, I really enjoyed your story. I always wanted to restore an old truck when I was a teenager. My family had lots of them sitting around from the farms and such, but my dad said they were a waste of money. Boy was he right! However, there is nothing like taking something old and making it new again. I have really enjoyed mine(although sometimes it is frustrating) and you sharing that with someone who probably doesn't have the money to start himself is great! Please post the pics soon, and tell what all you have planned. Ted
Thanks for the words of encourgement. The plan for both trucks or two fold. His, the 70 model, we will swap in a freshlly rebuilt 351W out of a 79 LTD, so he can get it up and running and do simple mods, such as intake, cam, carb and headers to as he drives it daily. and my 72 Ranger which is 90% rust free will be a complete frame off resto. So hopelly he can gain the experience of both worlds at once. Hopelly we will some pics up on the site next week.
