how do i test to see if the dizzy with vac advance is working? also when looking at a dist. cap from the inside should the wear marks be in the center of the pick ups or at the edge. I was looking at ,ine and it shows the main wear/spark marks are at the edge or the pickup. anything wrong with this? trying to work out some hesitation issues and i am thinking it is elect related now.
thanks
shawn
I think you mean the posts in the cap? It is normal for the wear to occur near an edge, it is because of the vacuum advance. It moves the timing but not the rotor. The easiest check of the vac can is to watch the timing marks and hook it to a manifold vacuum source, the timing should advance by 10-12 degrees.
