I recently bought a 1977 F350 Camper Special, Owner cannot find the keys, is the key that opens the door the same as the ignition?

I think so, round one would be for glove box.

yes, as assembled at the factory...I know the locking glove box used a round-headed key, I assume it was cut differently...and I only remember seeing those in '78 and newer....

Well I have seen it square for ignition and round for doors and glove box lock (if installed). I have seen a lone square key unlock doors and start truck....
Hit up a JY pull a ignition assembly (with key) and plug and play from under the dash until you get a lock smith to just cut you a ign key. Cheap route.

All of the 70's Ford cars and trucks my family owned, 9 I think is the count, had square ignition, round door keys. When I needed to change lock cylinders on my current dent, I couldn't find a set like that. I can find both keys for sale, but the round blanks won't work on the door cylinders I've found. Now I've got one key for all. It's more convenient, but for nostalgia I wanted round and square.

All (7) of my 79 trucks have a square key for ignition and round for doors and glove box as well. All (4) of my 79 Bronco's only have a square for the doors/ignition/back glass...Ford did some crazy things back in the day!!

Round door keys didn't appear until the 1980's.

All 1970's F100/350's, Bronco's and Econolines had a square headed key for the doors and ignition, a round headed key for the optional locking glove box.

The 1967/79 door/ignition key blank is C7AZ-6222053-A (reads: Family of Fine Cars) or C7TZ-8122053-A (reads: Ford).

When cut with a hand held key cutter, the square headed key was inserted on the left side of the cutter, the round headed key was inserted on the right side of the cutter.

My 66 has one key for all with a slick back and tumblers on one side . A more triangular head. My 77 and 79 have one square key for doors and ignition with tumblers on both sides. Neither have a locking glove box.
All my fox body Mustangs, ranging 86- 93 have a round key for doors, hatch/trunk and square for ignition and glove boxes. They are cut different. I always figured the round oblong shape was to give you more leverage to turn the locking mechanism because of the electric lock linkages and to help in opening the trunk/hatch.

The ignition locks are so cheap you could probably jam a screw driver in and use it for a key, order a new lock with key.

SSP Mustangs came with one square key for everything - doors, ignition, glove box, and trunk.

My '68 Cougar had the square key for the doors and ignition, and a round key for the glove box and trunk.

My '77 F150 was one square key for the ignition and doors, but someone replaced the ignition switch and tumbler while chasing a starter run-on condition which was really caused by the lack of a ground between the cab and the engine block, which results in an ungrounded or poorly grounded cab, and lots of weird electrical problems.

My mother still has the '77 LTD she bought new. We still have the '79 Bronco we bought new, I still have several sets of old spare keys for our long gone 6th gen farm trucks. Each one has square ignition and round door keys.

My 1977 F350 SuperCab Camper Special has one square key for the doors, ignition and glove box. The side tool box has its own generic-style key.

There are no round door keys listed for any 1973/79 F100/350.

This certainly isn't the first time I've had parts guys tell me something I had didn't exist, based on a parts catalog.
