Ford pickup truck body on a medium duty chassis

Has anyone managed to graft a superduty cab along with it's front clip onto a medium duty F650/F750 chassis? What I actually want is a F550 extended cab (3rd gen), with the cummins 6.7 straight frame and axles off the F670/750.

Welcome to FTE!

Crew or Supercab trucks were available as OEM.

Hi 85e150, but the hood and front clip is completely different from the pickup trucks. I meant using the hood etc from the pickup truck line on the medium duty.

Not a faint chance the Superduty pickup front end will clear the radiator on a medium duty. Unless you do a hefty body lift.

I'm a little confused as to WHY the OP would want to install an F-250 - F-550 front clip and cab onto an F-650/F-750 truck, which as already mentioned above is not possible. Besides, the cab portion of those trucks is virtually identical to the F-250 - F-550 cabs anyways, save for some very minor small detail stuff (ie larger diameter steering wheel on the medium duty trucks, along with additional bezel trim piece to house the Allison automatic push button shifter on models so equipped etc). What exactly is the intended benefit, (to which I see none)?

m-chan68, Well the idea is to convert a 4x4 F750 to receive front implements such as front loaders, forestry chippers and so on. With a front tilting hood, I expect there would be more clearance issues compared to a rear tilt hood.

Front loader--like a trash truck? Or a skip loader/farm tractor?

Chippers--anything worth a darn needs a couple hundred HP.

Have you seen trucks of that type with that kind of equipment mounted?

Front loader like a tractor, plan is to use high flow hydraulics for the chipper. Please correct me if I am wrong, if a medium duty can serve as a dump truck, crane body and so on I would assume that it wouldn't be unreasonable to have it modified for forestry chippers and front end loaders.

Well, you could adapt the trash truck loader, but you need a flat nose truck for that. A tractor like loader is not practical or useful on the front of a medium truck IMO.

The chipper--if you only need a light duty chipper you could run it off your PTO, but you'd probably be money ahead with a self contained IMO. Tree service, Forest service--all have tow behind or free standing items.

Again, have you seen trucks equipped this way, or do you have a source for this type of equipment?

85e150, the need for a flat nose makes a lot of sense! The only trucks I have that are configured this way are the Unimogs by MB.

Unimogs have that "Swiss Army Knife" status, many other trucks not so much.

My local city has a dump truck,I think it's an International, that has a bucket loader on the front. It's arms are more like a trash truck. When it's driven the arms are pulled back along the cab, making it impossible to open the doors. Not that you would when driving, but you have to put the bucket on the ground so you can get out when parked.

Nah sayers. This is my obs project and not a superduty but anything is possible. The front axle is 10 inches wider so i bought 5 inch baja fenders to cover the tires. I dont like the f700 front clip for the look im going for.

It's entirely possible to put a 450/550 cab and front clip on a 650/750 chassis, you'll most likely end up using a 450/550 radiator and intercooler to make it all fit properly.
Other than emissions junk a 6.7 Cummins isn't any bigger than the 5.9 Cummins I have in my F-450, no lift or body mods where made, there's enough room to run a mechanical fan.
As for the loader and hydraulic chipper, neither of those are good ideas, there's no good mounting points to attach a farm style loader and the weight would crush the front springs, the steering components would also be short lived.
A chipper for tree trimming service requires a good amount of power, A transmission or transfer case driven pto providing hydraulic or direct drive power isn't strong enough to handle the power demands of a chipper.
