7.3 No Start

So I have a 2000 f250 7.3 with 290000 miles. Was running great until a few months ago, it started being very hard to start. It will turn over very fast but only occasionally fire and run. Once it cranks it runs great. I took it to a shop and the mechanic said it was badly corroded battery cables causing the issue. He said that the starter was taking all the power causing the injectors not to have enough voltage to fire. Does this sound right??

doesn't sound right to me, but sounds like you need to get it hooked up to a scanner so you can see what it's doing. could be a number of things

He said when he connected to the computer while cranking it kept disconnecting which, in his experience meant it was losing voltage.

Also when I went to pick it up they sprayed it with a little starter fluid (I know it's a big no-no but I wasn't paying attention and it happened) and it fired right up.
