So a question... What is the recommended OCI on a 2019 PSD? On my current (2001 F350 PSD) I have been anywhere from 5K to 25K. The 25K is after I got the FS2500 bypass filter and with testing every 10K. The oil was doing great but my nerve ran out...
The easy answer is, "Change the oil when the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor tells you to."

Same here. Ordered a dozen Motorcraft filters from Amazon. 6.2L filters are so cheap. Changed at 4,300 miles. Now I should be able to change in late fall and early spring. About 5,000 miles.
We also have a leased Honda for the wife. I like my wife to drive newer cars. Oil in the leased car gets changed only by the dealer and once the warning light has been on for a few weeks. Seems that I am the only driver that notices the light is on and I don't drive the Honda much.
So many of you are changing your oil three times in a time frame that your truck is only calling for one. Why does Ford reccomend an interval that so many obviously believe is detrimental to the engine? Why would Ford do anything that puts them at risk of a massive warranty claim? I understand that many of us were changing our oil every 3000 miles when we started driving but now most vehicles tell us exactly when we should change it. When the truck tells me it needs an oil change, I do it. I can just imagine Ford denying a warranty claim because the owner performed excessive oil changes, disregarding Ford's specific instructions.
So my reason for my preference of a 5,000 mile interval is simple. Big square even numbers. 5,000 10,000 15,000 20,000 on and on. My wife knows every time as shes approaching a change, my kid knows. Theres no label to read. No odd numbers to remember. And I prefer full synth because back in the 1980s when the synthetics were just coming in and were very expensive, I bought a new Peterbilt. They were starting out with full synth gear lubes. Eatons warrantee stated 500,000 thousand miles. Unless you changed out the break in oil within a certain initial break in period. And used full synth. Then they gave you 750,000 miles. That sold me on synth. I dont think anyones having lube related failures any more. Unless something else fails.
Additionally, with the extended change intervals... The filter is the weak link. In the early days of extending change intervals in the trucking industry the recommendation also included a filter change mid point of the extended oil change.
So Ive always done the 5,000 miles and purchased the highest quality filter I could find. At this point high quality oil and grease is not too expensive. I believe its money well spent. Valvoline full synth is on Amazon I think for less than $30 for a 5qt jug. So you buy 2 and a filter and your still under $100.00 by a long shot. I do 12,000 miles a year on average. What would I possibly save by extending any further?
Im interested in the check valve on the Motorcraft filter. I have been using Napa filters which are made by Wix. But I cant verify the check valve. Thats a big deal if it helps avoid dry starts.

Same here, oil changes and tire rotation on all my vehicles every 5000 miles for the same reason! May be overkill but it's easy for everyone to remember.
For us low mileage drivers, in order to maintain the warranty for the gasser, have to change it based on the miles or 6 months. My first 6 month change was at 1700 miles and I currently have 1800 4 months into that one. Seems like a waste but....gotta do what the manual says. With that said, it spends 75% of it's life towing so I run full synthetic and motorcraft filters. Dealer did my first change, I am considering doing them in the future.....
I changed my 6.2s 1st change at 7 months and 3k miles. Running motorcraft filter and shells Rotella gas truck oil. Usually a M1 guy but we got some damaged quarts of the rotella in at work so we defected them out. No issues...
After my experience with the “intelligent” oil life monitor in my ‘18 F150 Limited, my trust is out the window. It came on right at 10k miles despite towing a couple different trailers several hundred miles. By the time the truck wanted an oil change, the timing chain in the 3.5 EcoBoost was already rattling and needed replacement at 18k miles. They put new oil in at the time and forgot to reset the IOLM, but sure enough it asked for an oil change again right at 20k miles. AFAIK, it’s not doing anything intelligent at all. That and a few other issues motivated me to trade up to an SD, and I’ll be following the severe service interval since I tow often. It’s cheap insurance.

Im about to do an initial oil change on my 2019 6.2 with 2500ish miles. I wanted to get the break in oil out. Then Ill do it again at 5000. Then at 5,000 intervals thereafter. Ive seen guys praising the stock Motorcraft filters because of the check valve. Sounds plausible to me. What filters are you guys using in your gas motors?
Secondly Im a full synth kind of guy. Ive seen people praising the Motorcraft full synth as well. My initial instinct is to go with something premium like Amsoil or Royal Purple or something like that. Ive always used Valvoline products as well.
What oils are you guys using and who swears by the Motorcraft oil?
And finally, Have any of you changed out the rears or transfer case initially at low miles to get the break in oil out as well?
When I say break in oil I dont mean to say they use a certain oil. I just want to get the initial filings out right off.

Our 2019 F350 is also fitted with the 6.2. Because we carry our truck camper ~50% of the time, I follow Ford’s 5K mile “Special Operating Conditions” OCI. I do the 5K and 10K services, and the dealer does the 15K service.
I’ve been using the Ford Motorcraft FL-820S oil filter for almost 20 years without issue. They’re inexpensive and readily available.
Ford revised the 6.2’s 5W-30 oil spec for MY2019. It’s now WSS-M2C946-B1, which I believe is Ford-speak for API SN+. In addition to Motorcraft products, there are several Mobil 1 5W-30 oils that meet this spec.

Valvoline makes a 5 qt jug? All of mine have been 4 quart (1 gallon) jugs.
