Bought my 2016 Ford F250 diesel 4x4 used with 16000 miles. Now I have 37000 miles and in search of a reputable ESP. Went online to research it and I'm more confused now than I was when I started. Not really looking for a bumper to bumper, mostly anything under the hood, drivetrain ( trans, axles, transfer case) and A/C....
I am no expert on post-sale warranties but what I do know from the legal side of business that some of those non-manufacturer warranty companies operate to solely take your money. A few years ago there were regular TV commercials for a few of them, then they disappeared. Why? Lawsuits. Lawsuits from citizens and lawsuits on the state (and maybe federal) level. One has even changed their name and is back in business again, because the profits are too much to ignore.
If you can’t get a Ford warranty, best take your time and do some good due diligence. Call or stop by a few local repair shops and ask them who they have had good dealings with and who to avoid.
You can no longer trust online reviews because there are companies that will generate many positive reviews for any company that pays their ‘reviewers’ the money to do so.
I agree with Steve Reeves, unless the rods are hanging out, it won’t be covered, ask me how I know, total waste of money, and I bought mine through ford.
I know there is a very good extended warranty.. GEICO will warrant an untitled vehicle for only $10 a month.
I know this to be true because I have purchased it on multiple vehicles and had a claim with no questions asked and had the repair done at a Ford dealer.
Give them a call if you plan to purchase an untitled vehicle or know someone. You just can't beat $10/month.
I never had much luck with ESP's so now I don't even bother. It seems when you do have a slight issue, there is always some clause that won't cover all the cost or labor or some other legal mumbo jumbo.
Ford ESP or none. The Ford ESP is the only one worth your money and all covered parts are ALWAYS replaced with genuine Ford parts.

I bought my ESP from Flood Ford. Was the best price I could find for the package I wanted. So far have never had to use it. Knock on wood.
I also have what Geico calls "mechanical breakdown coverage" or something. They offer it if you insure a brand new vehicle with them. I've never had to use that either so...
Hopefully if/when I need either.... they'll be worth it.
