57 chebby was plan B
Just read a little note in Auto Restorer magazine. Turns out that the 58 Chevy was actually scheduled for 57, but it fell behind schedule. So, the backup was to massage the earlier cars into the 57. Fins were a late addition.
Personally, I never liked the 57 chev. Consumers at the time somewhat agreed because Ford outsold them that year. Red and black 57 Fords are just beautiful.
