LOL.......calm down before you pop a blood vessel.

Yes, I know what I’m talking about but you cherry picked certain things I said and came up with your reply.

The focus was the mid engine layout and Ford has been doing it decades longer starting with the GT40 and all the way to the current Ford GT.

With that being said, this is the first time a production Vette will have a mid engine layout and the last time I checked, the 2005 Ford GT was mid engine so 15 years later, your beloved Vette is playing catch-up with said engine layout.

Have a good weekend.

I've always heard people refer to the 15-17 as a 2nd gen engine.

Those people would be wrong.

Thumbs up

When I picked up my 19 5.0 the other day I asked about a delay if you ordered a 2020 with the 5.0 and was told 6 weeks which seems pretty normal.

The Donlen site is no longer showing delays on the 5,0 https://www.donlen.com/buildstart-trucks-ford.html

Might depend on what qualifies as a "generation". While I don't take Wikipedia as a final authority, their write-up on the coyote calls the 2018 version 3rd generation.

The only explanation I can think of for that is that, for some reason, many count the pushrod 5.0 engine from the 80s as the first generation. No relation in any way whatsoever.

You hear many refer to the 5.0 Coyote, even the all new 2018 version, as the “tried and true” engine that’s been around forever. MrTruck on TFL lost my respect when he made a similar remark in one of their videos.

I know it’s a catchy name but Ford should have dropped the 5.0 moniker when the actual engine size changed.

This might alleviate some or most of the confusion about an engine generation.

Coyote 1, Coyote 2, etc, etc,

Even coyote is a bad name. Nuisance animal. The cartoon version never caught the Roadrunner (I’m surprised Chrysler didn’t take advantage of that in advertising). And here in South Texas and Mexico a coyote is a human trafficker and drug smuggler.

The coyote has gotten a bad rap. I like coyotes. They are clever and resourceful.

That said, the "coyote" is one of many variants of what Ford refers to as their "modular design".

I think that something went wrong with the plasma coating process, and that the delay is resolving whatever went south (or east, or west, or north, or whatever your region calls for).

I searched the block of my first 2018 5.0L looking for “ACME” before it was replaced. I think it was faintly stamped in the front. This new mill says “FORD”, and I think it’s turning out okay. I don’t want to voice that too loudly though.

I agree.

Something happened during the plasma coating process and it’s just taking time to finally get it right but more than likely, the plasma coating will return for the 2020 5.0 engines.

The never ending battle for a bit more efficiency by further reducing friction which over time will gain a few more MPG‘s.
