Are you putting any oil in with it when you add refrigerant?

System holds 38oz.

Oil charge should be around 8oz. New comps are usually prefilled. Did you flush the line set? Evap? Condenser? You may be over oiled.

What gauges are you using?

The comp i bought had 3oz in it. I poured it out and added 7 oz. I put the whole system under vacuum for about 45 minutes before trying to charge it. I have those harbor freight guages.

They are so so. See if you can return. Cough up another $40-60 for Mastercool or Yellow Jackets.

Did you buy the vac pump? Rentals have oil never changed...and it needs to be done due to moisture.

Where are you located? I will help if in Texas or Louisiana.

My truck averages mid 40s from the vents on max AC in upper 90s without tint.

I bought the vacuum pump. Yeah might be worth getting new guages. As its leaking somewhere. Either in the system or guages. Im thinking of maybe using one of those cans of r134a with the hose and guage atached to see if the system will take it which will tell me if its the system that is leaking as i wouldnt be using the guages. The oil i put in the compressor had uv dye and i checked the system with uv light to check for leaks but didnt notice anything. But should the system be under pressure to check for leaks?

Curious also if puting oil in the compressor then putting it under vacuum would have sucked it out?

All you need is for it to leak out and you should see it with the UV light. I'm assuming you charging it was enough pressure to push it out.
