So I bough my 2015 5.0 a couple of months ago and love it. I do however dislike the muffler a bit. It’s a flowmaster, not sure which model, it was put on by the previous owner.
I will say it is cool hearing that V8 a bit and don’t want to lose that entirely. Is there a muffler anyone can recommend in between stock and ridiculous? Not looking for entire exhaust, just a replacement muffler.
edit- i added a few more photos to show most of what i got going on underneath since I don’t have a clue what stock looks like and i started hearing about resonators, which looks like I don’t have???

Most well known exhaust companies have sound clips online for V8 powered F150’s and the different mufflers they offer so it’s best you that you take a listen because everyone’s taste is different.
With that being said, do a search online for Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Borla, StainlessWorks, and Corsa.
Americantrucks.com is a good place to start because they have many sound clips of different mufflers on V8 powered F150’s.
so it is hard to make out my model #, but i’m 90% sure I have the 40’s series 42541, which makes sense, it says very aggressive on their web site.
i want a little less sound, but not stock. Now that I know what I have, any suggestions would be great. I’m open to any brand, just want to replace the muffler to something sweet sounding without quite as much noise.
do yourself a favor, look at walker quiet-flow ... flowmaster is a joke. the walker will give a nice low rumble and sound like a truck not like some crackheaded mustang owner.

I’ll look into the walker quiet flow. Maybe with the resonator delete and the walker, i’ll get a nice rumble without being obnoxious?
Definitely get something stainless, looks like that Flowmaster is aluminized and maybe a year from rusting out anyway. Why Flowmaster still makes aluminized mufflers I don't know, since they're only about $10 cheaper than their 409 stainless ones.
Also, you may find it still annoying without the resonator. Possibly you could find a factory resonator and splice it into the system? I know a couple places sell replacement resonators but all the ones I've seen were aluminized only, not 409 stainless like the stock one. You can find some stainless aftermarket resonators that mostly do the job but probably not as well as the stock one.

yes, you could definitely get rid of the resonator, I did with mine .. the tone will continue to warm up after being on for awhile, been about 6 months and it sounds very nice and low now.

if you have to put a resonator on, the muffler you picked is too loud .. it makes zero sense to buy a muffler and have to add a resonator also, unless you want silence ..

Where were you a year ago? 😆
I put a Corsa Sport on my 2018 5.0L last year. Wasn’t happy. Just too quiet. Finally, added the resonator delete pipe a couple of weeks ago. WOW! It is unbelievable. I get more looks and thumbs up than I would have ever expected. Frankly, nailing it to the wood makes it bark like a GT350, but cruising and having spirited fun makes it come alive. I just came back from south Missouri, and if I lived there, I’d NOT have the resonator deleted. Up and down the hills makes the ride annoying after an hour.
As already mentioned the muffler looks like one of the 40s. If its very loud I think its not a delta flow. Adding the resonator will take out some noise. Especially in the cab the sound will be more "civilized".
If you want the sound lvl more in the midrange I would try the 50 series heavy duty. I almost bought this muffler myself. I decided for a 40 series delta flow without resonator delete (cops will hunt me here in germany with a delete).

Yeah I confirmed it’s a 40’s series which is their 2nd loudest out of 16! I am looking at the 50’s series between the delta flow or super 50. The delta is the 12th quietest and the super is the 14th quietest out of 16. I spoke with them (holley) and they said either one will be wayyy quieter than the 40, with the 50 delta being a touch louder.
The 50 series HD your looking at is in the middle as far as sound at 8 out of 16.

O...K...? That makes no sense. Why does the factory use a resonator? The resonator does very little muffling. It's there to remove annoying drone. And I'm talking about replacing the factory resonator anyway.

FWIW, I have a Super 50/ 50 SUV (whatever they're calling it now), just put it on last year. For something flowmaster says has a "mild" sound it was pretty damn loud. Probably not as loud as a 40 series but loud. This guy's video does a good job of illustrating the sound level:

.
Don't kid yourself. I’ve been running a Corsa setup on my 2018 5.0L for over a year now. A couple of weeks ago, I dropped the factory resonator and put in a straight pipe. The difference is like absolutely unbelievable. I swear without the resonator, I could effectively blow out windows if I was close enough... it’s THAT loud when punching it. The exhaust note is totally different than when I had the resonator in. Louder on ALL accounts. The factory resonator could be a muffler in itself. While I agree the resonator is likely for drone, it removes a substantial amount of noise. In my case, I’d venture a guess it muffles we’ll over 50% of the exhaust not, although you really can’t effectively put a percentage on it. The beauty of the Corsa is at ant speed WITH OR WITHOUT the resonator, there is absolutely NO drone. Ive never experienced that white the Roush or Borla setups I’ve run.

I had to add a section of spiral insert to bring the volume down to more acceptable levels but right now it's perfect.
Good info. I was considering the 50 delta, so yeah, the 50 super for sure between the 2 since it’s supposed to be quieter and you say it’s loud. How did you add the spiral insert? Is it something that you have to cut the pipe and add, or stick down the end of the tailpipe? Probably cut and add mid pipe i’m thinking. Something to think of in case any route i go is too loud. I see they’re only like $20.
