I have an odd bulge (not humongous but visible) in a couple of my tires. I just had my 7500 mile service and they rotated them. I noticed the tires did not want to come off the axle easily and they pounded them with a rubber mallet.
I do not know if the condition existed before and as I have never seen this or had load E tires before I didn't know if I should be concerned.... Just noticed it tonight and it makes me feel uneasy.
Hoping all the gurus here will have an answer.
Got 8500 ish miles on it. Never carried anything more than 500ish pounds
Thanks
Time to replace. It's not from them being hit to get the rims loose, my guys have to hammer tires every day of the week to get them loose. It's more than likely from potholes.
What brand of tire and warranty on it, I would go into that before replacing on your own. If you look closely at Good Year tires, Duratracs, wranglers in the E versions, you will see something like this only smaller and less obvious. Just a part of tire building process, yours looks bigger and more concerning from the pictures, I would try warranty from dealer or where you purchased these tires.
Thanks. I'll take it into the dealer. I don't drive that hard and have not been off road. I have hit a pothole or 2 but these are supposed to be load E rated. That seems like not a lot to do to such a big tire.
Thanks all
I had the same thing on my tires with a few hundred miles on them. Go look at the dealer lot, all of the trucks with the E rated tires will look the same.
From just a photo, it looks like impact bubbles from the sidewall being squished due to coming in contact with something on the road. Usually a pothole or debris on the road. If it’s an impact bubble, the sidewall will have a tear in the lining on the inside (meaning tire must be dismounted).
Doesn’t look normal to me. I’ve never seen that on the many E rated truck tires that I’ve had. I personally would replace it asap if I did see it on one of my tires
Got this on one of my tires as well . These Goodyear kevlar tires haven't been very impressed by. 300 miles had to replace one from a puncture from a tin can that blew on road on road. Now this from only thing can think of is a light rub backing into a spot...
