Shift lever replacement

I need to replace my shift lever in my ‘08 F250. I have the lever, looks simple. But how do I get the steering column covers off to get access to replace the lever itself? I took 3 screws out of the bottom cover, and it didn’t come apart? Once I get there, anything I need to know? I’m leaving for vacation soon, and need my tow/haul to function! HELP please!!!!!

The two cover halves also snap together. Try squeezing the seams at various places.
