I know the 02 models have the Dana 60 I have worked on them.

Thanks. I didn't catch that part.

Top right shows 4.30 which is the gear set I have in it and matches what I was told as well as what the door sticker confirms as well.

My 2000 f250 4x4 superduty v10 has that same front axle 4:30 geared housing. Never knew it was a Dana 50. Thank you

i thought it was a Dana 40.

Perhaps your experience should be a warning to the rest of us to note the information on the various service tags in our owner's manuals and/or another safe location!

Had a problem similar to this and had no choice but to go to dealer with vin, my 00 lariat
Ate **** into the woods one day when I was acting a little squirrely and bent the drivers rear axle. It was strange because it's the one with 9.75 rear but uses 8.8 axles had no idea what I was dealing with so 45 to an hour with a parts guy and the vin he finally found what axle I needed.
