Transmission Gear Indicator Disappeared... +/- Doesn't Change

So jumped into the truck to run to the store. On the way I notice the gear indicator has disappeared. I hit the +/- a couple times, also shifted into M and it still won't come back. I can't find any settings in the truck menus.

Anyone know how to fix this?

When in drive, hit the plus sign once. It will pop back. In manual mode it should show the gears and what your in. If you leave it on when you shut the truck down a few times in a row, it will stay up. Once up, if you hit plus one more time it will go away. Have you played with Forscan? Changed anything otherwise?

Like I said, neither putting it in Manual nor hitting the +/- brings it back up.

I even disconnected and reconnected the battery, no dice.

I did the global window up/down and auto-folding mirrors with Forscan, but that's it.

The forscan change most likely caused this. Put it back to stock codes and see if your +\- comes back. Try the forscan code again. I’ve had to do this a couple times as writing the module changed something else.

It'd be nice to know which module. Im guessing it's one of the global window ones. Guess I'll try them one at a time. This is exactly why I hate screwing with computers, ugh.

Before using FORSCAN it is recommended to download the As-Built data for your vehicle. That way you can return to stock. Keep in mind that any added items such as remote start will be disabled disabled since It didnt leave the factory that way. When I had my F150 I made a few changes at a time to ensure if I had a similar problem as you I could easily determine what I changed. Once I had everything working as I like I backed up all the modules. That way if the dealer does any adjustments you can go back in and "fix" what they changed.

Once I get to modding my '19 F250 XL STX I'll be doing the same thing.

I took screen shots before I changed anything for that reason. I just don't want to keep changing things back and forth, might cause more issues.

Lol.......well, at least you didn’t brick the computer in your truck when you made the changes via FORScan so that’s a positive and a small price to pay for your gear indicator going away.

IF it is FORScan related it's likely the codes in the IPC. Start there.
