I need transmission help
I have a 1997 f350 7.3 with the e4od transmission. Once the truck is up to normal operating temperature and I shift to reverse then back to drive, I find that I have no forward gears. If I rev the truck up it’ll lurch into gear. If the truck is cold, I don’t have this issue atleast not often. Any ideas? Could it be the filter or my shift linkage?

It is most likely a worn seal in the forward clutch.
When the trans is cold the ATF is thicker. The seals have an easier time working because of this. When it is at operating temperature the fluid is quite a bit thinner and leaks past the worn seals.
