My 2003 f150 with a 4.6 wont light up the code reader and ive tried 2 different ones. Then i tried the trip reset by holding it and none of the codes i see aren't listed
What you see from the Dash is in position just before 'GAGE'.
It was reserved for codes PA to PEx.
The 255 you see is a fill code and is an Octal number that would have been converted to Decimal to be more understandable, if it were used.
Example the FUEL position.
A ...54 would represent a low fuel level. A .178 would represent the 3/4 fuel level etc. in an Octal number base of 0 to 255.
You would need a Doc to interpret the dash data.
Check the fuse and DLC socket pin 16 for battery and 4, 5 for ground..
Good luck.
My cigarette lighter on the left works and changed the one on the right. The code reader works and i got a code of p302 but the Triton has a bad problem of spark plugs breaking off and Orileys sells a kit to remove them but im not doing it
