Started acting weird yesterday about midway through a 200 mile trip. Downshifting really hard. Kinda had trouble keeping up with itself. This culminated in me getting to about 10 miles from home and suddenly starting to lose speed. I could hit the accelerator and the engine would rev up but I wouldn't get any response from the trans. Took it out of OD and into D. Seemed to help a bit but nothing great. Stopped at a gas station and checked the fluid. Its a hair bit dirty but nothing near bad. Start driving the rest of the way home. Few miles at best. Eventually start to lose speed in D, so I slow down and take her down to 1. Plenty of power and response in first gear. Getting annoyed and figuring my trans is probably toast anyhow, I get a bit ballsy and speed up and quick manually shift up to OD. Went into 3rd or OD without a issue but was back to being **** once I came to a full stop again.
Bottomline, something with second and third seems to be messed up. I have a spare AOD in my parts Bronco but really don't wanna nuts with that TV cable crap unless I have to and would rather fix this one assuming it isn't toast. I don't think its slipping. Can a TV cable come out of adjustment? I have zero clue where to start on this one.
