There is only one component of this kit that requires welding...the rear sill. The welds do not have to be pretty as they are not visible but they should be strong or else the bed sides will bow and cause fitment issues with the tailgate. The header is designed to be bolted to the sides but I have found that structural adhesive works great on these seams if you don't want to see a number of screws at this seam.

For some reason I thought they were bolted or held by the tailgate hinge screws .
I can't emphasize enough what Charlie said about welding the rear sill to the stake pockets and sides. That joint is all there is for the strength of the bed sides to hold themselves up. You need to make sure it is a strong weld or your bed will be floppy and fall apart.
