f100 bed Ques ?

It is my understanding that the stepside bed was the same up thru 72 EXCEPT that the fender mounting holes are higher on the side of the 64 bed than the 56 bed. You would need to move the attach holes down about 2-3 inches to properly mount the fenders to match up with the 56 running boards.

Rear fenders 1953/56 = BAAA-16312-A R/S / BAAA-16313-A L/S. In 1957, Ford replaced the 1953/56 rear fenders with the 1957 rear fenders: B7C-16312-A R/S / B7C-16313-A L/S. These fenders were used thru 1979.
Bed sides went thru the same transformation. The original bed sides were: BAAA-8327840-A R/S / BAAA-8327841-A L/S. These were replaced by 1957 bedsides = B7C-8327840-A R/S / B7C-8327841-A L/S. These same bedsides were used thru 1979.
Tailgate: Original = BAAA-8340700-A was replaced in 1957 with B7C-8340700-A. It was used thru 1979.
All these beds look identical, and all will interchange: 1953 thru 1979.
Stepside? Grrrr...it's a FLARESIDE.

Randy is correct. Number Dummy has all the numbers. The bed sides are identical, except the fenders are mounted about 2 inches higher 1957 and up. I found this out the hard way. Bought a used bed with nice fenders from a 1971 pickup. Body man had a hard time getting the running boards on. He got them on but thay are cocked. I didn't realize it until I got the truck home and in the driveway and thought I saw a lot of tire. I measured the distance from the fender to the flare and went to measure my old bedsides and then I knew! The casual observer doesn;t notice it and I want to fix it with new bedsides in a few years!!

Do your rear fenders need any work? I needed to repair the lower front corners on my fenders and I had a '57 era bed. I added the extra length required in the front to get the fender down to the running board level I think the Mid 50s catalog says this measurement is 1 1/4". It does not look out of place and with a lowered truck the wheel looks good in the opening. It may be easier to extend the front of the fender than it would be to weld all of the holes and redrill them.
