Is there any difference in beds for a 53 - 56 f100 and a 57 - 60 f100 ?
I have the opportunity to buy a brand new pickup bed kit , but seller is saying it's for a late 50's early 60's f100 .
I want if for my 56 , so is there any difference in them ?
Since we're talking aftermarket bed kits, rather than factory beds, it would be best to find out from the seller who makes the kit, then check with the manufacturer for the details. Factory beds have the fender bolts in a different location 53-56 vs 57-79. There may be other differences in the skirting at the running board area. If it's an aftermarket bed without fender bolt holes pre-punched, it may not matter, but the manufacturer could advise you better if there's other differences. If it has the fender holes in the later location, you may be better to pass. You would likely warp the sides into oblivion if you tried to weld them all up and redrill.
Thanks Wayne , I knew about the fender bolt locations being different , but didn't think about the running board area possibly being different .
Thanks , it gives me something to check .
There is no difference in length or width between a 53-56 F100 bed and a 57-60 or later flaredide F100 bed. As 52 Merc said above, the 57 and up beds have the fenders mounted higher, by about 3.5". I had a 71 bed on my 54 from 1999 to 2016. It worked but you saw a lot of tire and wheel well and the running boards were slanted to meet the fenders.
I'm going to go check it out this morning .
I have taken bed measurements from my original beds so I have something to go by .
Looking at his pics it looks like there are no holes for the fenders , so fingers crossed it's what I want .
It is a complete bed kit with timber , stainless strips , all stainless hardware , tailgate chains etc etc .
Considering that, here in Australia, there's over $1,000 freight to get one of these kits over from America, if it's close enough, and at a reasonable price......Just grab it either way!!
Doing the fender holes doesn't worry me Abe .
It cost me $3500 , but considering it cost the guy I bought it off $5800 by the time he imported it i'm not complaining .

I didn't know you were down under. That is a good deal. O can't believe someone sold a bed kit without fender bolt holes. Just joking about the square holes if course. Guys use a bolt with ribs on the shoulder that grip the round holes. I'm not sure what they are called. . .. Great deal!
