I'm taking care of some door related items right now and I'm wondering if the door push button shaft is adjustable
On my driver's door, it isn't quite deep enough to disengage the arm from the latching wheel. I know those probably aren't the correct terms for the parts, but hopefully make sense with some photos.
Standard position Activated by inner door handle. Adequate clearance. Activated by the external door button, fully depressed. You can clearly see it doesn't completely clear the star wheel.
(Sorry for the crappy pics)
I'm going to pull the button eventually, but if like to know if it can be adjusted for a longer stroke, or if I need to purchase a new latching mechanism.

On the outside of the door do you have the "Custom Cab" escutcheons? The scratch guard plate that goes beneath the handle and push button.
If so you need the longer push buttons. There are two lengths to these buttons, with plate and without.

No, this is a standard cab.
Good to know the push buttons are available in a longer length.
I'm pretty sure the long arm the button shaft drives against when pressed is hogged out a bit around its pivot point. I can depress the door button a quarter inch before it starts to move the star release bit.
It's hard to tell in your pictures but the picture I'm posting may be your problem. Where the arrow is pointing is a bad wear point. If the wear is excessive like the one in this picture you will run out of travel in the button before it disengages the pall. Also worn to the point that this one is you cannot unlock the door with the key. You can weld that worn spot up then dress it off and get it working again.
