Auto wipers

Does anyone agree with me that the auto wipers totally suck? I had to turn mine off in setting because they were terrible. Wiping constantly even in just a mist. IMO they are useless.

I turned mine off too. I felt they were wiping much faster than I would chose to have them wipe.

Thumbs down

I also turned off our truck’s auto wipers. I found their speed to be much to aggressive for conditions.

This is particularly disappointing to me because we’re not talking about new or untried technology. For example, the auto wipers on our 2006 BMW worked quite well indeed.

I agree also. They wipe too frequently and don’t adjust to conditions like all the vehicles I have owned in the past that were not Fords. We also have a 2018 Expedition and I turned the auto feature off on that SUV also. They must use the same “intelligence”.

I turned mine off on the way home with my truck on day one. Thing I hated was when the windshield is dirty and it mists, they come on. Very annoying.

Ah, but Ford warns us about this! Sounds like it’s your fault for not keeping the outside of your windshield clean.

Thanks Jim. I considered this. Made sure it was clean and even used a clay bar on the area of glass by the sensor to make sure there wasn’t any film from the factory or shipping that was microscopic or at least so small I could not feel it or see it.

No difference.

And I get the same exact behavior out of my 2017 Super Duty and my 2018 Expedition.

It’s a feature I paid for that I don’t get to use now.

I haven’t had any issue with mine. I keep it on the lowest setting and it works fine. I haven’t had them before, so nothing to compare them to.

Mine works fine. I forget that it's on when I enter the carwash and have to scramble to turn it off. That reminds me that I forgot to turn it back on after the carwash. Very rarely I get a random swipe of the wipers, but it's so rare I don't worry about it.

I use a glass sealant from Adam's Polishes that works decently.

Keep mine on the lowest setting. Been rain or thunderstoms weekly since last September. Love mine.

Those who actually like the feature, you dont find that when it's on they are at an necessary or overtly aggressive speed? That's my problem with the feature. A very light rain, that I would normally chose the slowest intermittent setting, would have these going as if it was a monsoon.

Mine do not work like that. I have only had a few times where I wished it would slow down, but maybe just a hair. Mine do not go as if it was a monsoon, unless its really bad out. I prefer these over the wifes old BMW or her Lexus.

I use mine on the lowest setting and it works mostly perfectly. No, not like there's a monsoon when it's only a mist.

Same here with happy on lowest setting. The lowest setting seems to agree with the amount rainfall perfectly for me. I have on occasion gotten the 'dry swipe' but that's easily explainable from the amount of bugs accumulated on the windshield at the time (Have I ever mentioned how much I hate fish-fly season? )
