OK guys. I have a 2005 f250 with 6.0. I'm on my second engine. Found a 2018 6.2 gas truck I can use for a donor truck. What kind of problems do you see switching truck over to gas engine? I'm tried of dealing with the 6.0 crap
Apples and oranges. It will not be a direct bolt up procedure. You have all the front end parts to deal with meaning radiator, ac compressor, and oil coolers. Then there's the pcm, you will have to adapt all pcm wiring. Then there's the dash. The pcm is not going to interface with the dash, body control modules, transmission modules, and most every other module on the truck. It would be cheaper to repair the 2018 truck even if a total.
Yeah didn't think about all that. but I have to whole truck could change dash and everything else. Truck is not wrecked. Owner passed away and son cant get title, so is parting it out.I can motor trans and all wiring for 600.00. or whats left of truck. Not sure why title is missing or if i could get title on truck. I know its not stolen. maybe its a family deal.
What about stripping the newer truck and selling the ‘sellable’ parts, then use those funds toward a good engine rebuild, or buying a rebuilt engine from a reputable dealer?
Quiet titles can be had through the state revenue departments. I certainly wouldn't strip a good 2018 when it could cost a couple of thousand dollars for attorney and court fees. My guess is there is no title due to a lien on the truck by a finance company. If there wasn't a lien then whoever is in charge of the estate would be able to get a title. That fact that they can't tells me something isn't right in this deal. If that's the case you could be charged with receiving stolen property if the truck gets identified and the finance company presses it. Contact a attorney, do a vin search through the state or even a carfax. If there is a finance company involved you may be able to purchase the truck outright from them and save $$.
Either way buying parts from a truck without a title can and should get you into a bad place. JMO..
Serving suggestion. Swap in a 3rd 6.0 engine to repair, if you intend on keeping it. Or cut your losses, and move on with life into a newer truck. Both of the above options make for much less headache than what you're asking.

I checked truck is not stolen. someone has bought the interior out of truck already. I would think they have a lien on truck.I 'm going to check more into truck today for myself.

Just be very careful. If the truck does have a lien and you buy parts and let's face it $600 for a 2018 6.2 and all the wiring is crazy low. It would be hard to explain that you knew it wasn't stolen. I have people come to my shop trying to sell tools and parts all the time. I can't take the chance that something isn't legal and I tell them to keep walking. It's not worth the headache!

Yes but if there is a lien its theft if the lien holder doesn't agree. Besides a drop out 6.2 with trans is selling for over 5k so 600.00 should be your clue it's not legit.

I'd be cautious of a deal like that. Engine and transmission worth more than $10,000 for $600. There is a reason they cant get a title, possibly a lien.
Having been a party to several estate close outs, and having worked in the loan business, I would recommend you stay well away from that truck and the people associated with it. They are either not too bright or not too honest, or both.
Ok outside of the whole lean problems, that swap would be very difficult. Nothing will swap from the 2018 to the 2005. The motor mounts will more than likely have to custom along with everything else. The juice wouldn't be worth the squeeze.
Thanks guys..... I passing on the deal. Basically went looked at truck. It was a nice truck LOL. Got more of the scoop on truck. Dad bought truck 2017 passed away early 2018. Truck has a bank lien. but bank has never came and picked the truck up. Son says he is just selling parts off of it now. he did say he was needing money right now and he would take engine, trans and wiring out and deliver. for the 600.00.or 2000.00 for the rest of truck. I can say he is not hiding the truck. Its sitting in his driveway in a decent neighbor hood. I thought long and hard. as i could use front end and bed to really update my truck. but not getting involved in all that. My luck as soon as i did police would be at my door.
