Is it possible for 2150 carb to have no check ball or weight

Disassembled the reman carb on my 1977 f100 2wd today because of a leaking power valve. While removing the Venturi and Venturi cluster I noticed no check ball or weight. I wouldn’t think the truck would run if it didn’t have these parts in the carb, but it did run before disassembly. I don’t want to reassemble if these are necessary on that carb. There is no tag or other info on it to properly identify the carb. Did later carbs not use the weight and check ball? Just trying to figure out what happened. I have looked all around the top of my toolbox where i disassembled it just Incase it I may have missed it but top as raised edges and I just don’t see how I would have missed it. I was anticipating them coming out but they just were not there.

Beats me, but I doubt it. If you look down inside with a strong light there should be a tapered seat for the check ball. I can't understand why people leave parts out. If they weren't necessary, they wouldn't be there in the first place. Big corps used to track costs down to the 1/4 penny, or even an accounting unit called the Mill, or 1/1000 of a dollar. Should be able to find an exploded diagram somewhere online if you dig, a Shop manual is handy too, with the same pics.

Rebuild kits should have the checkball, the weight can be made with thin welding rod, something like that.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure why people do that either. The check ball was in the kit like you said and I got the weighted rod from a galaxie carb I forgot i had laying around. Reassembled and will try it out tomorrow. Thanks again for your help.
