I have installed three sniper systems with very few issues. Resist the urge to start it up for a short time just to hear it run. The Sniper is set pig rich from the factory. I does not learn until engine is up to temp. When you start it it will run off the base map (rich) and add more fuel depending on air and engine temp, also rich. If you start for a couple minutes then shut the engine off it will not learn so the next start will be the same way, fouled plugs will follow shortly. Couple weeks ago I helped get a sniper running on a 454. We started it and made a couple adjustments so we could drive it. Took it for a trip around the neighborhood until it was up to temp. when we got back to the house learning had removed 30% of the fuel from the base. We were then able to shut it down and restart with no problems.
ahhh, Rimrock, that is what I want to do!! I bought this engine from Craig's list and not sure how it is going to run. I have good oil pressure (drill turing the oil pump), and good compression, but both are cold, not really firing the engine. I want to start it and see how it runs, but your post....I should resist. I agree, but the engine running good is a big hurtle.
I will get some time this weekend, but still a lot to do to get it able to drive.
