infamous 2011 5.0L engine knock
Im from the Netherlands, and new to the forum.
I bought a 2011 F150 5.0L Lariat last Januari in Florida. Truck has 100k miles and still looks great inside and out, and I bought it from a dealership.
I test drove it twice, on different days, and both times I listened to the engine hot and cold, and it purred like a kitten
Few months later, I finally receive the truck in my home country, only to hear it knocking the first time I heard it idle when I picked it up at the harbor.
Done a ton of research online, and found many many many cases just like mine, with videos etc that sound exactly the same, im pretty sure I have the same problem, the cylinder 4 getting oval and causing piston slap.
All the stories I read however are covered under warranty and in my case that obviously isn't possible
Are there any stories from people who kept driving? what happened? did the engine last, or break, or anything
Would be looking to get some info like that.
And why do those warranty cases get new engines vs having the engine repaired for example
Any info would be greatly appreciated
