Hello everyone, I need some help identifying a part number for this hose. On my AC unit I am leaking from the bottom of this hose where it attaches to the compressor. The shop would not give me the part number for this hose but told me that there were only Ford OEM house is available at $340 apiece
On my AC unit I am leaking from the bottom of this hose where it attaches to the compressor.
Is it leaking where the end fitting (manifold) is crimped to the rubber hose, or is it leaking between the end fitting (manifold) plate and the compressor?
The garage said it is leaking from the rubber part of the hose itself near the compressor. I showed him the one that was suggested above and he told me it wasn’t correct. I just cannot imagine this one hose being OEM specific? Should I just buy the one that have seen suggested and have another shop install it?
Thank you everyone! I am ordering this part below. Since the system is completely Evacuated already I will just connect the current hose put on the new hose when it arrives and get the system charged. This form is amazing to have.
Once you pull the old hose off, your system will no longer be evacuated. Atmosphere/moisture will enter the system with the old hose off.
You can still do most of the work yourself. Remove and replace the hose at home. Take it to someone you trust and have a vacuum pulled on it again to make sure none of the o-rings on the new hose are leaking. Then go back home and add 54 ounces of R-134A yourself.
I just finished rebuilding the A/C on my Expedition this week. I own a good vacuum pump (or two) and gauges, so I was able to do everything myself. Is the compressor on your V-10 down under the passenger side of the engine like the 5.4? Boy was that a pain in the butt...
Yes just below where my hand is pointing to the hose is where the compressor is located. Just no good way to get to it without taking the wheel well off. Unless there is a trick I am missing.
Yeah, I would take the wheel well off. Pull the tire, and then pull all the little screws holding the wheel well liner in. Push the wheel well liner in toward the engine while prying down and in on the outer edge and work your way around. Don't forget the push pins near the running board.
This wasn't an option on my Expy/5.4....it just sucks changing a compressor on those.
Ok Gentleman the replacement of the manifold hose has seemed to fix the issue. although the AC will never be as cold as my wife's GX460 this AC is serviceable.
I used the excursion this weekend to pull the 27ft travel trailer and it worked great on the way up to the camp site. but on the way back the front air just blew no ac air and made a lot of noise with very little air blowing out of the vents. tried turning it off and back on with no success. then when I got home to unload everything I noticed that the rear compartment was dripping expensively in the compartment and then onto the ground which totaled about 4 x 4' in a matter of a couple of minutes.
I have no idea why it acted that way? Then a couple hours later I jumped in it and back to ice cold again?
Did the system freeze up somehow?
Is it because I was pulling a trailer?
I am so confused. lol thankful to have AC back some of the time anyways lol.
