I am finally getting the engine pulled and rebuilt in my truck. Part of this will finally give me a chance to clean the Engine bay. While prepping for the engine pull which will happen this evening I noticed this stamp on the grill, I also notice a similar stamp on the fender where it bolts to the inner fender. My question is this stamp a date code as to month and year the parts where made? Does this stamp mean that the grill was stamped in September of 1972?
Mine is a '77, but it has surely been rebuilt out of someone's parts pile... I put a new cab on it, and could tell that the one I took off wasn't original. The engine is from '69!
Ok I am pretty sure mine is all original, it was from the central valley of California, and was looking to see if there was a way to verify that what I have is the original sheet metal.
Thank You for the info, is there any information on the numbers are they a date code. the example you provided had the firestone symbol then the numbers 7 74, July 1974 stamping?
