New Owner

Buuuut... I do have a couple questions/comments.
I think I need to spray some WD-40 into the door jam.
Another kind of annoying problem is when I pull back on the left stalk(to turn on the bright lights), the stalk won't lock in place. I don't even know if that can be fixed, but as I don't use my bright lights all that often it's not really that big of a problem.
And my main question is concerning shifting. Shifting by ear is not a problem, but I think when I have been accelerating hard I might have gone a little too high in the rpm's. Does anyone know the redline, or even better, what mph is the approximate limit for the first 3 gears? If no one knows the mph limit, I can figure that out using the redline with some other figures and calculations.
Thanks
For your highbeams to lock push the Stalk forward and it will lock. Pulling is for flashing. The Lights will flash even when the headlights are off.
Can't help you on the second Question, but it will be interesting to find out.
Good luck with your new Truck.
Yep, you have to push the stalk forward for the brights to lock on. Pulling on the stalk is the "flash-to pass" feature.
I've atttached a diagram of the recommended shifts speeds out of my 1998 Owners Manual which should be exactly the same for your '99. Not sure that's what you're looking for but it will give you some idea of a "baseline".
Speaking of which, did your truck come with an Owners Manual? If so, you ought to browse through it and get a feel for all the features...if not, you should conisder picking one up off off eBay or something like that.

I feel dumb now...
My Ranger did not come with an owner's manual. I was planning on taking it back to the dealership I got it from to get some stuff looked at, and that was one of the things to get. Thanks for the help guys!
